Hi, my name is Marshae Campbell
and I’ve been playing guitar for just a little over two years now, and I learned to play through Seth - The Guitar Guy method that he developed. First I want to start out by sharing one experience I had with music. When I was younger, I wanted more than anything to learn to play the violin. I was obsessed with wanting to play the violin. So. when I was in the fourth grade, our school offered an orchestra program giving us that opportunity.
I was so excited, and my parents agreed to rent a violin for me and everything. And I would go to these lessons and it wasn’t very long before I HATED it. I never did learn how to play the violin, and I think part of the problem is we were hardly ever actually playing. We were in our workbooks learning theory and just not anything to keep us interested or motivated.
The Guitar Guy program is the exact opposite experience of that. The very first lesson I walked away playing a song that I recognized and could sing along to - from the very first day! I was blown away! Now as a mom of kids with special needs I didn’t have a lot of time to dedicate to practicing and I didn’t know if I was going to progress very quickly. But, I have to say that, with this method and practicing religiously, and it wasn’t a lot of time every day, and it was just about 15 - 20 minutes - although when I did sit down and start sometimes I had a hard time stopping because it was so much fun.
But within six months of starting playing guitar I was playing in a band. Granted I was not the lead guitarist by any stretch of the imagination, but I was having a good time. I was having a lot of fun, and I was making music! With the Guitar Guy method I not only started learning songs right off the bat, I learned how to read guitar music by chord, by tab, and by note, so pretty much any song out there if I’m willing to take the time to learn it and practice it, I can figure out how to play it...
I learned different there are different types of strumming and picking patterns and techniques. I did exercises that helped me to be able to learn the chords ...
... I was able to enjoy it and get excited about it because I learned so much so fast and within just a couple of weeks I was playing songs and singing along and knew enough to be able to go online and find the songs that I was interested in and that I wanted to learn to play and sing and to print those off at home and then I just had such a huge library of music open up to me just by the few simple lessons that I had.
.... Anyway, I highly recommend The Guitar Guy method and I highly recommend Seth as a guitar teacher. And for anybody remotely interested in guitar, this is a technique that you can be successful at with just a minimal amount of time but with your dedication and doing it reliably then you definitely can have the great experience of playing the guitar and singing songs in no time.
